Montrose Academy is a non-denominational secondary school which serves the town of Montrose and the surrounding rural area. The roll of the school hovers at just under 1000 pupils and there are approximately 100 teaching and support staff. Most of our pupils come to us from our associated Primary Schools of Borrowfield, Ferryden, Lochside, Rosemount, Southesk and St Margaret’s. A number of pupils also come to us from outwith the catchment area. The School Motto is ‘Semper Sursum’ which sums up the overall aim of the school in that we constantly strive to improve all aspects of our service and our provision. |

We also seek to nurture and practice a core set of values such as honesty, respect and consideration for others. We attach great importance to the traditions and history of the Academy, conscious that we are only the current custodians of the good name of the school. The Academy also enjoys the support of an active Parental Partnership. |

We are a Community School anxious to involve the wider local community in the life and work of the Academy and to develop a sense of community and citizenship in our pupils. We attempt to focus on two major areas within our influence – the quality of learning and teaching and the development of a positive, supportive and caring ethos. We are proud of our ethos, reflected by the range of extra-curricular activities on offer and the celebration of our pupils’ achievements in and beyond the classroom. The Academy enjoys the commitment and good will of staff in working together to improve the school and we use a wide range of methods, including this site, to keep in contact with parents.
